Wendy Marie Testaburger is a character in the animated series South Park. She has had four voices during the series' run: Mary Kay Bergman, Mona Marshall, Eliza Schneider, and currently April Stewart. (Stewart made Wendy sound more like a teenage girl rather than a 9-year-old.)

Appearance

Wendy, after getting breast implants.

She has an unconventional fashion sense. She wears a pink beret, a light purple jacket with a dark blue collar, and yellow pants. Under her jacket she was shown to wear a light purple tank-top in "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society". In "Breast Cancer Show Ever"

it was shown that she wore a white tank with a star and a unicorn on it. She also wears dark blue mittens or gloves. Underneath her beret is a head of black hair with bangs, although some anime versions and character perspectives show that she is a beautiful olive-skinned brown-haired girl with brown eyes. Wendy's character is based on Liane Adamo, a former love interest of South Park creator Trey Parker. Her name is said to be based on "Wendy Westaburger", the wife of a friend of Matt Stone's.

Wendy-pajamas

Wendy in her night clothes.

  • When dressed for bed, Wendy wears a pink tee-shirt with three yellow flowers decorating it, and pink pajama-pants. (But in "Chef Goes Nanners", she wore mauve pajamas with a daisy pattern.)
Wendy-formal

Wendy, dressed up.

  • When dressed for an occasion, she wears a knee-length pink dress with a purple strap at the top, white shoes, and white gloves.
  • As a "spoiled whore", she wore a sky-blue tank top with one strap, a wide black belt with a round gold buckle, and a pair of flare jeans. In a blooper shot towards the end of the episode, she was shown wearing a violet bikini top, black leather gloves, a pink thong, and fishnets.

Wendy, trying to win back Stan's love

To try and get Stan's attention in "Tom's Rhinoplasty", she had her hair feathered out and wore a violet beret and a black leather vest and skirt. This was supposed to look like a girl from Grease.

Though she usually wears her pink beret, she's been shown to have the aforementioned violet one, and a red one as well ("Something You Can Do With Your Finger").

Personality

Wendy is typically portrayed as nice, feministic and liberal in nature, but extremely jealous. However, she has had moments in which she is rather nasty or unfair, usually caused by her jealousy. The most famous of these instances is likely her encounter with Ms. Ellen in "Tom's Rhinoplasty" (See below). Even earlier than that, in "Pink Eye" she had promised Stan that she would dress as Raggedy Ann so that he could dress as Raggedy Andy and they could be a pair for Halloween. Later, she "just realized how stupid we would look" in her own words, and dressed as Chewbacca instead. She was awarded for best costume in the school costume contest (despite looking just like everyone else), and she gave all the candy she won away to starving children in third-world countries (an act which, though charitable, was also selfish to Stan and the other boys).

File:PsychoWendy.jpg

Wendy's eyes at the end of "Tom's Rhinoplasty"

In "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society", she called Bebe a slut, and gossiped about her with Rebecca, Millie, and Esther (see below). It is also shown in this episode that she is a prima donna, since she loves having the boys pay lots of attention to her and call her pretty, she doesn't like anyone else to get in the way of that. She is also known to get jealous of all other girls who are prettier or smarter than her, such as in Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society, Tom's Rhinoplasty, and Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset.

In "Follow That Egg!" it is shown that she has a strong motherly instinct, as, after hearing from Bebe about the way Stan had treated their egg, she was deeply worried that Stan would damage the egg which had belonged to Kyle and herself before Mrs. Garrison switched their partners. She even went over to Kyle's house, frantically asking to see the egg and hold it for a couple of minutes. Only Kyle could calm her down. After seeing how well Stan and Kyle took care of the egg, and presented it to the governor at the end of the episode, she saw how good Stan's fathering skills were, and relaxed.

She is apparently prone to losing her temper when people persistently interrupt and mock her, as she got so angry when Cartman did just that that she even beat him up.

Relationships

Stan Marsh

Main Article: Stan Marsh.

For the first seven seasons of the series, Wendy was most well-known as Stan Marsh's girlfriend. He was revealed in "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" to have been attracted to her for some time already, and she had apparently felt the same way for him. The main thing that used to get in their way was the fact that Stan constantly threw up on her, especially whenever they tried to kiss. (In an inaccurate flashback during Stan's dream in "City on the Edge of Forever", the two are seen at the end of "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe", successfully kissing.)

Wendy still stayed with him, though, and got extremely jealous and angry at anyone and anything which got in their way (she paid a bunch of Iraqi agents to kill the substitute teacher, Ms. Ellen, in the episode "Tom's Rhinoplasty" because Stan had fallen for her, and she even insulted Bebe in "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society" after Stan became drawn to Bebe's developing breasts).

Later on in the series, their relationship didn't seem as strong, and at times seemed strained. On Stan's part, though, it may be because he was too busy to pay attention to her. Although, it has been referenced throughout the series that they were still together. She officially broke up with him in the episode, "Raisins"; the only reason given was that she wanted to date Token.

Even after she had broken up with him, he still showed feelings for her, and in "Follow That Egg!", he tried desperately to impress her, and grew jealous of Kyle because he was working with Wendy on the egg science project. Wendy also showed feelings for Stan at the end of the episode - it was not only clear that she missed Stan, but that she felt guilty for dumping him, and was taking it as hard as he did. However, rather than take her back when she appealed to him, he acted proudly and said "As if I give a crap about what you think, Wendy", before leaving.

When asked in an interview if Wendy and Stan would ever get back together again, Matt Stone said that their love was written in the stars, but the world conspires to keep them apart. He expressed faith in the possibility of their future reunion, though.[1]

The Reunion

In the episode "The List", Wendy helps Stan to discover that the election of who the cutest and the ugliest boys were was rigged. At the end of the episode, she admits that she enjoyed hanging out with him again, and they attempt to kiss (but Stan throws up on her again) after he throws up on her, she smiles. In the season twelve episode Super Fun Time, Stan pairs with Wendy on the field trip, saying he's with his girlfriend and does not want to look like a dork. This indicates that they have finally gotten back together again.

A Virgin or not?

Many fans question whether Wendy remains a virgin. The questioning was mainly brought on by a response of Trey Parker's during a South Park Studios interview. In response to the question 'Will Stan and Wendy ever kiss?" he says that Stan and Wendy kissed a multitude of times, and that, during an episode he couldn't recall, they also had sex, but "you didn't see it." Matt Stone admitted that he could remember that the rest of the three central characters were at the bus stop and that they (Stan and Wendy) could be seen behind a tree. This could be a joke by Trey and Matt as the interview also said "If you're dumb enough to look you deserve to lose that much of your life." and if they whould have sex, Stan would not be stunned when the parents talked about sex to him (and his friends) in the end of The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers, and it seems like Stan and Wendy (especially Wendy) didn't know (enough) about Sex before the episode Proper Condom Use (they only learned about STD just there). The interview took place in 2001 before season 5. but IF it is true, it means it happened between the first episode and the season 4 finale. [2]

Gregory of Yardale

Main Article: Gregory

Even while she was still dating Stan, Wendy would grow temporarily attracted to other boys. In the movie: South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, she had what seemed to be a crush on a newcomer named Gregory. She apparently liked him because he was very political, and shared many of her liberal opinions. However, when he started acting snobbishly and mildly competitive towards Stan, she saw how arrogant and proud he could be, and went back for Stan at the end of the film. She told Stan she had never really liked Gregory, and even said, "Fuck Gregory! Fuck him right in the ear!". Gregory hasn't been seen since.

Eric Cartman

Main Article: Eric Theodore Cartman.

Wendy kissing Cartman

Wendy is one of the stronger examples of an Eric Cartman hater, but in the season 4 episode, "Chef Goes Nanners", she got a temporary crush on him while they were working together on the flag debate. She even dreamt of herself and Cartman falling in love together in a meadow. Frightened by these feelings, she consulted Bebe for help on the matter, and Bebe told her that it was probably just sexual tension caused by working for so long beside him. Upon her advice, Wendy passionately kissed Cartman at the presentation the next day. After that, she lost all her feelings for him, except the old hatred.

Wendy's hatred toward Cartman reached a new level eight years later; in the episode "Breast Cancer Show Ever", she fought him, and beat him up.

Token Black

Main Article: Token Black.

After Wendy broke up with Stan, she began dating Token Black. However, this relationship didn't seem to have lasted for very long, as Token was seen with other girls at Bebe's Stupid Spoiled Whore party in "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset", and Wendy was eager for Stan to take her back in "Follow That Egg!" The relationship between Token and Wendy did apparently last till at least the episode "The Jeffersons", as they were seen sitting together on the ferris wheel in Michael Jefferson's amusement park in his backyard. Wendy went out with Token for the duration of the episode "Raisins".

Family

File:Wendy and her Family.JPG

Wendy with her mother and father

From what has been seen of the Testaburger family, Wendy has a mother and a father. She seems to be a Daddy's little girl, as she uses her charm and smarts to get her Dad to help her in "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset". He also cares very much for her, but gets caught up in the idea of little girls dressing like little whores. He then suggests that Wendy give it a try. His heart's in the right place, though. Her mother seems to be very conscious about her daughter's age, as she thought she was too young for breast implants in "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society". Mrs. Testaburger is revealed to be the City Planner in "Night of the Living Homeless". It seems that they don't pay much attention or listen to her, seen in "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset" when she expresses her concerns which they ignore until she tricks them, and they're rarely around their household. This might answer Wendy's craving for attention. It is unknown of what they think of her relationship with Stan, but they clearly did not approve of her threatening to beat up Cartman (which she did) in the season 12 episode, "Breast Cancer Show Ever".

The Testaburgers are probably of German or Slavic descent and possibly Italian Decent.

Appearance

The mother has neck-length black hair, and wears a blue jacket, a greyish shirt, and a brown skirt. Face and hair-wise, she strongly resembles Miss Stevens, the choir teacher from the episode "Rainforest Schmainforest". The father has dark red hair, beard and moustache. He wears a green sweater with a white shirt underneath, and dark blue jeans.

Wealth

The Testaburgers seem to be very well-off. Wendy was able to pay the Iraqis a huge quantity of bundles of dollars, in American currency. She also had three thousand dollars in cash, on hand, when she went to have breast augmentations. In "Chef Goes Nanners", it is shown that she sleeps in a bed with a canister. However, the Testaburgers are nowhere near as rich as the Blacks are, probably because they donate a lot to charity.

Friends

Bebe Stevens

Main Article: Bebe Stevens.

Wendy's best friend is a blonde-haired girl named Bebe Stevens. Bebe helped Wendy to dispose of Miss Ellen, the substitute teacher, because Wendy thought that she was trying to take Stan away from her. (It aspires that Miss Ellen was actually a lesbian, though Wendy and the others didn't know what a lesbian was.) In return, Wendy helped Bebe to win Kyle over in "Clubhouses" (though it didn't work out.)

Though they seem to be very close friends, in the season 6 episode "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society", Wendy grew jealous of Bebe because she had won the hearts of all the boys (including Stan). Wendy was not the only one, though, as she was insulting Bebe behind her back with several other girls (but Bebe actually overheard a lot of it.) Finally, despite her mother's concerns, she got breast implants because of her jealousy towards Bebe's developing breasts. In another episode, "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset", it was Bebe who abandoned Wendy, because she wasn't enough of a Stupid Spoiled Whore. Despite all this, they have still hung out with each other as of the season eleven finale.

In "The List", Bebe and Wendy break into a fight after arguing over the forged list of the cutest and ugliest boys. Bebe even takes out a gun and tries to kill Wendy; it is unknown at this point what their status with each other is, though it might be implied that they are no longer friends, as they weren't paired with each other in "Super Fun Time". However in "Breast Cancer Show Ever", it shows that they are still best friends, as Bebe cheered Wendy on before and as she beat up Cartman.

The Other Girls

The same way as Stan tends to act as the leader of the male student population, Wendy acts as the leader of the female population. The other girls look up to her as their voice of reason, though on some occasions, they ignore her logical and liberal statements and suggestions.

Talents

Music

She became the 5th member of Cartman's boy band Fingerbang - after wowing the boys with a song, similar to the popular euphemistic Miss Susie rhyme. The lyrics to the song are as follows:

"Mrs. Landers was a health nut! She cooked food in a wok!
Mr. Harris was her boyfriend and he had a great big
Cock-a-doodle-doodle! The rooster just won't quit!
And I don't want my breakfast, because it tastes like
Shih Tzus make good house pets! They're cuddly and sweet!
Monkeys aren't good to have 'cause they like to beat their
Meeting in the office, or meeting in the hall!
The boss, he wants to see you so you can suck his
Balzac was a writer! He lived with Allen Funt!
Mrs. Roberts didn't like him, but that's 'cause she's a
Contaminated water can really make you sick!
Your bladder gets infected and blood comes out your
Dictate what I'm saying, 'cause it will bring you luck
And if you all don't like it, I don't give a flying fuck!"

Languages

In "Tom's Rhinoplasty", it is revealed that Wendy is fluent in Arabic, as she speaks in this language to the agents she hired to shoot Ms. Ellen into the sun.

Politics

She is portrayed as a very political girl, and has joined many campaigns, groups, and debates over the course of the show. She has also participated in stopping conspiracies and assassinations (see below):

The national "Save Our Fragile Planet" contest

Wendy was infuriated when Cartman won the contest instead of her. She grew even angrier when Cartman forgot what he wrote about (she had written on the suffering of bottle-nosed dolphins). She then believed that Cartman had cheated on the paper, and snuck into the classroom after school to find his essay. After having read it over, she revealed to the public that Cartman had copied Walden and replaced Henry David Thoreau's name with his own. Because Kathie Lee Gifford had already left at this point, nobody cared, which annoyed her further, but she quickly gave up.

In the meantime, she found out while reading Cartman's paper that Mr Garrison and Mr. Hat were planning to shoot Kathie Lee at the local presentation. She then called Stan to help her stop them. However, while they managed to convince Mr. Garrison not to kill Mrs. Gifford, Mr. Hat still tried to shoot her (but killed Kenny instead.).

The Flag Debate

In "Chef Goes Nanners", she was one of a few people who realized why Chef was upset about the South Park Flag, and immediately volunteered to represent the "Flag Should be Changed" team for the upcoming debate, but was mortified to find out that her leading partner was to be Cartman. She attempted to lead the team without him, and was shocked when he suggested sabotaging Kyle and Stan's team (The Flag Should Stay the Way it is). They eventually began to work together, and their partnership improved as they found that they had more and more things in common with each other - which also lead to Wendy's aforementioned crush on Cartman. At the presentation, this attraction made it difficult for her to voice her side of the debate, but after kissing Cartman and releasing her tension, she was able to concentrate, and produced a well-rounded opinion on changing history.

Fighting

Wendy has shown herself to be a fairly decent fighter, capable of beating up Cartman after he repeatedly jokes about Breast Cancer. Although Cartman in the fight does manage to get in a few hits in, it is Wendy who wins and leaves Cartman lying in a pool of his own blood.

Trivia

  • Wendy's name is a reference to the restaurant, Wendy's and after the wife of series creator, Matt Stone's friend.
  • Despite her being very politically active, she apparently did not know anything about the founding fathers in I'm a Little Bit Country.

  • Stan: Sorry.
  • Wendy: Hey, look. A french fry.

  • Townsman 2: Yeah, Kathie Lee Gifford's gone.
  • Stan: Wha, What about, not holding anything against the person who wins?

  • Stan: You said we were going to be Raggedy Ann and Andy, remember?
  • Wendy: Yeahhh?
  • Stan: We were going to enter the costume contest as a pair.
  • Wendy: I know, but then… I guess I just realized how stupid we would look.
  • Stan: Thanks a lot, Wendy! You ruined my Halloween!
  • Wendy: Relax Stan. You'll feel better once we're out trick-or-treating.

  • Stan: Look, can we just drop the whole role-playing thing? I'd play along, but my girlfriend's here, and I don't want to look like a total dork in front of her.
  • Wendy: Thanks Stan.
